Double Disappointment In Somerset

22/04/2006

After the long trip south to Minehead for the Somerset Stages, the 4th round of the BTRDA 1400 championship, Seb and driver David Bogie returned home early having suffered the same mechanical failure that put pay to their charge on the recent North Humberside rally.

The day started well, setting 3rd fastest 1400 times on the opening two stages, however that was soon to come to an end. Just before the start of stage 3 the crew got a puncture, followed by the transmission problems which had hampered them before.

"Initially the car was jumping out of gear, but that soon developed so that it wouldn't even go back into gear, the power steering also packed up when the battery power dropped so that made it all the more difficult." commented Seb.

Crawling back to service, having lost a lot of time in stages 3 - 6 it was clear that the young team were going nowhere. A small tooth had sheared and destroyed the differential, as well as smashing a hole through the gearbox casing.

Despite this second retirement in a row, the team are looking forward to fighting back on the next round of the BTRDA championship. Marking the half-way point in the season is the Red Dragon Rally on the 20th May.
