Record Result in Turkey

20/04/2010

Co-Driver Seb Marshall scored the best ever result for a Ford Fiesta R2 on the opening round of the Junior World Rally Championship and Fiesta SportTrophy International by claiming an impressive 18th overall on the Rally of Turkey.

Set in a new location to the East of Istanbul, the Rally of Turkey would see Seb once again co-driving for Harry Hunt as they took the start amongst the spectacular Blue Mosque and a trip along the famous Bosphorus river.

The stages that made up the rally were littered with large rocks, combining fast straights and big jumps, making it a tough test for the Fiesta R2, with sections of tarmac adding to the challenge on gravel tyres.

Despite an enormous jump on the final stage of Friday, which caught the attention of the hundreds of spectators watching, and a spin on Saturday which bent the steering arm on a rock the crew managed to survive the rally, and were delighted to finish a credible 5th in the JWRC classification against much more powerful cars, and 1st of the FSTi competitors.

"It's been a very hard event for a small car like ours, so just getting to the finish was our priority. To do that and record the best result for a Fiesta R2 on a WRC event is a great bonus!" commented Seb.
