Points Aplenty For Pirelli Star Co-Driver
28/03/2009
Co-Driver Seb Marshall secured a fine fourth overall on this weekend's International Rally of North Wales, the opening round of the 2009 British Rally Championship.
Co-Driving for Adam Gould in the Pirelli backed Subaru Impreza N14, the young pairing impressed with a solid drive to collect crucial championship points, whilst adapting to a new car and team.
Taking advantage of the prize for winning last year's Pirelli Star Driver competition, Gould and Marshall had only conducted 40 miles of testing to learn the four wheel drive machinery. Despite this the crew set an impressive 3rd fastest time on the opening test, the 8.84 miles of Dyfnant. However, an errant rock on stage two caused suspension damage, dropping them 48 seconds to the leaders and to 9th place on the results.
After a rapid fix by the Teg Sport team, the MSA British Rally Elite duo, fresh from 2 days of training at Edinburgh university, continued their learning experience in the classic welsh forests of Dyfi and Gartheiniog, each 16 miles in length. The slippery stages provided little trouble though as Adam and Seb set about hauling themselves back to an impressive 4th overall after the four stages, setting further top 3 times in the process.
"It's been a massive learning experience adapting to the new 4WD car, but I'm delighted to have got to the finish and get some good points on the board for fourth place." said Seb, "I'm really looking to the Pirelli Rally in a few weeks time where hopefully we can increase our pace further."
Seb would like to thank Pirelli and Pole Position Indoor Karting for their support.
