Winning Form Continues In Yorkshire
29/09/2008
Seb Marshall's incredible run of form with rapid young driver Adam Gould continued this weekend as the pair took another dominant R2 class victory on Rally Yorkshire, the fifth round of the British Rally Championship.
A welcome return to gravel on the fast stages proved to be a challenging start as the pairing adapted to the deceptively slippery conditions. Once settled into their rhythm Adam and Seb proceeded to win all 10 of the stages in class R2, including an impressive 8th overall on Stage 6 - Gale Rigg in the Autosport Technology prepared Renault Clio.
Holding a one minute forty second advantage at the main service, the team decided to play it steady and concentrate on testing the car in gravel spec ahead of their trip to Austria to represent the UK in the Pirelli Star Driver Shootout. Despite this the MSA British Rally Elite/Academy duo emerged from the last stage to record a dominant win, doubling the margin to the chasing pack to over three and a half minutes.
"It's been another great event for us, everything worked perfectly from the start and we were able to build a good lead" commented Seb at the finish. "It's been great to get some testing in for the Pirelli Shootout and record our third class win in the BRC this year."
Marshall next week travels to the Rallye de France - Tour de Corse to perform Safety Crew duties for Barry Clark in the Munchis Ford World Rally Team. "I'm really looking forward to it," said Seb "It's another fantastic opportunity to experience a World Championship event and the notoriously demanding roads in Corsica, whilst providing vital information for the team."
