Punctures Hamper Pirelli Rally

22/04/2008

Co-Driver Seb Marshall endured a frustrating day plagued by punctures on the recent Pirelli National Rally partnering Kris Hall in the second round of the Fiesta SportingTrophy.

The MSA British Rally Academy duo were confident ahead of the seven stages in Kielder and Kershope forests but luck wasn't on their side as they picked up three punctures during the 50 mile event. The first loop of four stages through Kershope proved costly as the rough conditions took their toll on the small cars, with two punctures despite being cautious to avoid the worst of the rocks.

After a short service the crews headed to the infamous stages of Kielder forest, renowned for their high speed flowing nature. Luck was once again to depart them though as in the first of three stages another puncture occurred. The next two tests were some of their best of the day however, setting very competitive times against their rivals, ensuring some points for 6th place at the finish in Carlisle.

"The punctures were so annoying, we lost over a minute and a half in total coupled with a few brake issues, so it was one to forget really." commented Seb "Kris demonstrated that he has the pace of the leading crews, setting top 3 times when we had a clear run, so it's just one of those days unfortunately."

Seb's next event will be the Jim Clark International Rally at the end of May.
